Lawmakers accuse Ghani of misusing national budget

AT News

KABUL: Some members of parliament accused President Ashraf Ghani and his government of misusing the national budget, calling for implementation of the constitution’s article 69 on him.

The lawmakers said Monday that millions of Afs had been used by the president under the pretext of operative money. They called it a national betrayal and called the judicial bodies to implement the article 69 of the constitution on Ghani to explain about the details of the misused money.

The legislatives had called officials from ministry of finance and audit department for answering their questions over the last year’s budget, but they were let go without answering MPs’ questions.

Members of parliament said that millions of Afs were used without transparency. They said that President Ghani had to provide details to them about the use of millions of Afs from national budget.

Lawmakers said that junior officials from finance ministry and audit department came to parliament for answering them, but they rejected them because they were not authorized to explain.
