MAIL releases 50,000 fish in Salma dam

AT-KABUL: The Ministry of Agriculture Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) on Saturday said that it has thrown 50,000 Common Carp, Grass Carp fish in Salma dam in a bid to generate fishing in the western Heart province.

Purchase and transferring of mentioned fishes to Salma dam cost Afs 1.5 million, funded from development budget of the ministry, said MAIL in a statement.

Based on estimation the fishes, which has been threw in Salma dam, will start to production after two years and through thousands tons of fish will be produced annually.

MAIL struggle to increase fish generations, by throwing of fishes in dam and rivers across the country, statement added.

Ministry also plans to establish fish farms in Herat, Nangarhar and Kunduz provinces soon.

MAIL plans to increase fishing and foster food safety across the country, mentioned statement.
