Member of Taliban’s Quetta Shura detained

AT-KABUL: Operatives of National Directorate of Security (NDS) have arrested an active member of the Taliban’s Quetta Shura in southern Zabul province.

The NDS in a press statement issued here on Saturday said that operatives of the spy agency detained Maulvi Faizullah, a resident of Daichopan district of Zabul and an active member of the Taliban’s Quetta Shura.

The arrested men was commander of the Taliban in southern Afghanistan, said the statement. It added that Maulvi Faizullah was also involved in subversive activities in Zabul, Kandahar and Ghazni provinces. The arrested person was allegedly recruiting youth for the Taliban in the above mentioned provinces. The statement said that Faizullah was also responsible for gathering intelligence information for the Taliban.
