Militants torch three checkpoints in Kapisa

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The Taliban militants torched three security checkpoints in Tagab district of Kapisa province, said an official source.

A security official in the province said that fighting between the Taliban militants and Afghan forces erupted on Tuesday afternoon in Anarzoi, Shahrak, Ghanikhel, and Korghal areas of the district.

“The militants set on fire three checkpoints in Korghal area,” Pajhwok Afghan News (PAN) quoted Asad Agha Safi, local police commander in Tagab, as saying. Safi said that the fighting compelled 130 families to leave the homes.

He said that security forces wounded four foreign rebels in Korghal area. The administrative head of the district, Quddos Safri, described the security situation in the district as fragile and said that they were mulling to conduct a joint clearance operation in coordination with troops against the Taliban militants.

The Taliban militants claimed to have captured seven police checkpoints.
