Military crackdowns leave scores of militants dead

AT-KABUL: More than sixteen militants were killed and seven others wounded in multiple extensive military crackdowns since Sunday.

In a press release issued here, Ministry of Defense, (MoD) said that Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal has conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Ghazni, Maidan Wardak, Farah, Badghis, Faryab, Kunduz and Helmand provinces.

Statement said that in these operations16insurgentswere killed and sevenothers wounded.

Afghan National and Defense Security forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.

During these operations in the past 24 hours,six Daesh fighters were killed and a stronghold belonged to enemy destroyed in Deh Bala district of Nangarhar, five insurgents were killed and four others wounded in Andar district of Ghazni, four militants were killed, three wounded and two stronghold of the enemy destroyed in Ghormach district of Faryab, one rebels were killed in Balamurghab district of Badghis.

In past 24 hours,10planed clearing operations,and Special Forcesoperations conducted in different provinces; also, Air forces conducted 72aerial operations supporting Afghan National army includingsevenstrikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.

ANAdiscovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.

ANA as the nation’s defense forces are ready to give sacrifice to bring lasting peace and security to the people and are determined to eradicate terror groups in Afghanistan.
