AT-KABUL: Second Deputy to the Chief Executive Mohammad Mohaqiq on Tuesday shrugged off allegations he had a verbal clash with Hizb-i-Islami leader Gulbuddin Hekmatyar in a president-hosted meeting.
Mohaqiq’s denial comes a day after reports that he quarreled with Hekmatyar over biometric identity cards in a meeting with Jihadi leaders in the presidential palace about elections.
The report said that Hekmatyar showed reaction to a criticism of Mohaqiq to the president for distributing biometric cards and he left the meeting after the quarrel.
Mohaqiq’s office, however, rejected the report about the quarrel, saying the meeting was to discuss elections not electronic identity cards. It further added that Mohaqiq had left the presidential meeting early to tend to another meeting.
