MoPH signs contract on keeping breast cancer at bay

AT-KABUL: Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Sunday signed an agreement with the “Group of Combatants Against Cancer” to fight breast cancer.

The ministry would launch awareness and fundraising campaign.

Farhad Darya, a renowned singer, was appointed as ambassador to lead the drive against breast cancer.

Speaking at a press conference here, Minister of Public Health Ferozuddin Feroz said that increasing awareness, fundraising and fighting cancer are objectives of the campaign.

Farhad Darya said that along with all members of the Group of Combatants he would exert utmost efforts to increase awareness and improve facilities for the breast cancer patients.

He said that his father died because of cancer and his wife suffered much from it but finally got well. “So these two cases made me to take part in the anti-cancer campaign.”

He added that awareness and fundraising campaign would start from the country. The drive would also be launched in foreign countries aimed at fundraising.

Farhad Darya termed role of media important for success of the campaign.
