Mortar fire leaves 3 children dead in Kunduz

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Three children were killed when a mortar hit a house in northern Kunduz province during Eid days, official said on Tuesday.

Khanabad district chief, Hayatullah Amiri, said, the incident took place in first night of the Eid, in which three children of a family were killed when a moral fired from unknown director landed on their houses.

He said that another two girls and their father were wounded in the incident.

He added that it is not clear yet that who fired the mortar but investigation is underway.

While showing concern over deterioration of security situation in Khanabad district, he said that he had several times reported the presence and activities of illegal armed group to the central government.

If the central government turned blind eyes over the issue, the illegal armed men would become stronger and the government would be not be able to disarm them, Amiri said.
