NATO strives for intra-Afghan talks

KABUL: Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Mr. Idrees Zaman on Tuesday met with NATO’s Civilian Representative for Afghanistan Ambassador Nicholas Kay, where they talked over important events to be taken place in the future.

Appreciating NATO member states’ support to Afghanistan in the recent years, Mr. Zaman talked about the Kabul Process III meeting, Consultative Loya Jirga on Peace, Afghanistan government led and owned peace process and the Presidential Elections, and deemed the continuation of NATO members states’ support in these respects as essential, a statement from Ministry of Foreign Affirms said.

The NATO Civilian Representative emphasized sustaining NATO’s support to the Government of the of Afghanistan and stated that NATO will strive to pave the way for inter-Afghan talks between the Government of Afghanistan and the Taliban.
