NDS recovers 4 antiques in Faryab

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Operatives of National Directorate of Security (NDS) recovered four antiques in northern Faryab province.  The NDS handed over the ancient artifacts to the provincial directorate of information and culture.

Sayed Abdul Rashid, the provincial director of information and culture, said that operatives of the NDS confiscated four ancient artifacts in Pashtunkot district of the province.

He said that they don’t have a museum in the province to protect historical heritages.

“We don’t have a museum in the province and we mostly keep the precious antiques in ordinary places. We urge the government of national unity to build a museum to collect and preserve ancient cultural artifacts,” he added.

Muhammad Arif Sediqi, another official in the directorate, said that illegal excavation for artifacts continue in remote areas in the province.  He said that more cooperation from security organizations was required to prevent the loss of historical heritages.

He said that the security forces have recovered more than 100 antiques in the province so far.
