New mayor assigned to Kabul

AT-KABUL: Ahmad Zaki Sarfaraz has been appointed as new Kabul Mayor based on a decree issued by the Presidential Palace on Wednesday.

The President Ghani’s new appointment made after 4-month, and during that period the Kabul Municipality was running by acting mayor.

The decree states that the appointment of Ahmad Zaki Sarfaraz as the new mayor of Kabul has been approved as per the Article 13 and Item 64 of the Constitution.

Sohaib Rahim, the former deputy mayor of Kabul for administrative and financial affairs was appointed as the acting mayor of Kabul.

He had assumed charge as acting mayor of Kabul around four months ago and almost a month after the former mayor of Kabul Abdul Habibzai stepped down.
