TIRINKOT: Six policemen and five Taliban fighters were killed in separate security incidents in the central province of Uruzgan, officials said on Monday.
A checkpoint commander, Wali Mohammad, was among the six killed and another injured on Sunday evening, when their vehicle struck a roadside bomb in the Saraw area of Chura district, the administrative head of the town Khalifa Sadat said.
He told Pajhwok Afghan News that two more policemen were injured in a motorcycle bomb explosion in the district and the injured were in stable condition.
Taliban fighters claimed responsibility for the blast and inflicting casualties on the policemen.
Separately, five Taliban fighters were killed and a sixth wounded on Sunday evening after a five-hour clash in the Charchino district of the province, said police spokesman Farid Aail.
A policeman was also injured in the clash, he added.__(PAN)
