Ranbir Kapoor is not in the mood to play it light
After his intense role as the angst-ridden Jordan in Rockstar, which won him every possible award in Bollywood, Ranbir Kapoor seems unwilling to let go of his dark side. He's back to black in his next film as well, Barfi!, in which his character is hearing and speech impaired.
Barfi! has reportedly been delayed again as producers have expressed concern over its unconventional content and feel the movie may be too grim. But does that mean Ranbir is ready for some light romance again? Not really. He's been candid about the sort of roles he feels would do justice to his considerable talent.
"You know I have this dark side, I really want to play somebody really bad. I want to play a bad guy without a back story of why he is a bad guy, " Ranbir said once in an interview to NDTV's Barkha Dutt.
And while we'd certainly like to see evil Ranbir on screen at some point, there's no denying that the box office can't get enough of loverboy Ranbir. The question is, is he interested in lightening up at all?
dont know about other stars but I would rather do Rocket Singh, Wake Up Sid because these are films I connect with. These are characters who I have seen I have friends like these," says Ranbir, who has always maintained he would rather be an actor than a star.
Why not be both? We're willing to bet there'll be an equal number of takers for Barfi!'s noir protagonist as there will be for the lovestruck hero of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, out later this year and co-starring ex-girlfriend Deepika Padukone.__NDTV
