Ainak lift inter-zone cricket trophy
KABUL: The Ainak team defeated the Spin Ghar club in the final of the inter-zonal cricket tournament played at the Kabul International Stadium, an official said on Tuesday.
Teams from the five zones -- Ainak, Spin Ghar, Amu, Band-i-Amir and Bost -- took part in the event simultaneously played in Kabul and eastern Nangarhar province.
Afghanistan Cricket Board spokesman Farid Hotak told Pajhwok Afghan News Spin Ghar won the toss and invited Ainak to bat in the three-day final.
The Ainak side posted a first innings total of 331 runs in 75 overs for the loss of four wickets. Rahim Mangal top-scored with 101, followed by Fazl Niazi with 100 and Rashid Zadran 73.
In reply, the Spin Ghar were bundled out for 162 runs off 41 overs -- thanks to Rahmat Shah’s nine wickets haul. Adnan (40) and Shafique (42) were key contributors.
With a 176-run first innings lead, Ainak scored 182 runs in 50 overs in the second knock, setting a target of 348 for the rivals. Spin Ghar were all out for 101 runs, handing Ainak a 248 runs win.
Again Rahmat Shah bagged four wickets for his team and was declared the man of the match.--(PAN)
