3 Polish soldiers killed in Afghanistan
GHAZNI: A gunman shot dead three Polish soldiers on a patrol in Ghazni City, the capital of southern Ghazni province, on Wednesday, an official said.
The incident took place in the Khak-i-Ghariban locality where the assailant opened fire at the troops from his house, the governor’s spokesman, Sabawoon, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
After the attack, foreign troops bombed the house, he said, but had no information regarding casualties in the airstrike.
However, residents said three children of a family were killed in the raid. Witness Nek Mohammad said the children were found dead when residents entered the house.
Meanwhile, the Taliban claimed six foreign troops were killed in the assault. Their spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid denied the attack was carried out from a house.
Meanwhile, two armed militants were killed during a clash with 203rd Thunder Military Corps personnel near the provincial capital.
A commander of the troops, Khair Mohammad Barez, told Pajhwok Afghan News that three soldiers were wounded in the engagement.
But Mujahid said the fighters clashed with police, killing six members of the force and destroying a tank. He said only two fighters were wounded during the clash.--(PAN)
