Conflicts had brought many miseries to Afghanistan. The problems were coming down from the sky like heavy shower. May be it was a test by the heaven or perhaps Almighty Allah wanted to teach us some lessons. Lessons that never betray your land as you will have to come here again no matter alive or dead. The second lesson for sure is that strength lies in unity. Distance between various ethnic groups living in Afghanistan had given good reason and chance to foreigners to invade this land and wage war upon us.
From time to time our neighbors on one or other pretext hit us on the back. If today we still failed to bring unity in our ranks then our problems would increase manifold and those who joined hands with foreigners would be cursed by their motherland (Afghanistan) and ancestors who spelt their blood for the sake of this land.
Looking at the bright side, it seems that at least half of us had learned bitter lessons and are determined to make Afghanistan a developed and strong country. Address of President Hamid Karzai on Thursday to joint houses of the parliament, executive and judiciary should be considered a step in this regard.
During the session which was convened according to article 107 of the constitution the president asked lawmakers, judiciary and executive of its support to eliminate corruption at once and for all, as Karzai is well aware of the fact that if the government failed to tame this serious issue now then it would cripple the whole society as well administrative system.
Corruption is sucking blood of the nation like parasites, and no doubt that our own Afghans who should be aptly called black sheep are responsible for increase in the corruption and other problems. It seems that these cursed people and traitors never thought about the future of Afghanistan and coming generation, even for a second.
However, we are lucky enough as the number of corrupt figures are not much; if the three pillars of state (judiciary, legislature and executive) joined hands then surely the government could end corruption in days not in months. The lawmakers should bring laws in this regard and support the president while the executive should leave no stone unturned to perform its constitution duty and arrest those who are involved in corruption. Moreover, the judiciary should dispose of corruption cases on priority basis to teach bitter lesson to those who are taking bribe or involved in corruption.
Taming corruption is not difficult if the three organs of the state showed seriousness and commitment. It requires only iron will nothing else. Be determined and take one stay you will feel the difference.
