NNF concerned over govt dishonesty in selecting commissioners

AT-KABUL: The New National Front of Afghanistan (NNF) on Monday expressed deepest concern over what it called “the government’s dishonesty” in selecting of commissioners for electoral bodies.

“The process of selecting commissioners for electoral commission was not transparent,” said President of NNF Anwar-ul-Haq Ahadi.

He said that based on report questions was given previously to some candidates.

Commitments made between numbers of commissioners and the National Unity Government he claimed.

The NNF strongly condemn architecturally selecting of commissioners through a nontransparent process, he added.

Pointing to NUG decree on changing of Independent Election Commission (IEC) and Independent Electoral Compliant Commission (IECC), Mr. Ahadi said that this decrees is against 90 and 109 articles of constitutions.

He called on parliament and civil societies to resist against NUG illegal interference in electoral bodies.

The NNF criticized the government for dishonesty in selecting commissioners while, last week president has selected Najeebullah Ahmadzai, Abdul Qader Quraishi, Maleha Hassan, Wasema Badghisi, Maazullah Dawlati, Rafiulah Bedar,  Guljan Abdulbadi Saiad as commissioners for Independent Electoral Commission And Ghulam Dastagir Hedaiat, Abdul Basir Fayez, Ali Reza Rohani, Homaira Haqmal, Abdul Azizi Ariayee for Independent Electoral compliant Commission

It is pertained to mention that after challenges of fraud in presidential election 2014, the National Unity Government during first days of stability unity government pledge to bring reform in election commissions in order to gain people trust back over electoral bodies. After passing two years the government succeeded to assign a selection committee to finalize the nominees list and submitted to the president and finally president selected 12 commissioners for electoral bodies.
