No quorum: Parliament fails to hold Monday session

KABUL: The parliament’s hall was empty on Monday and no member was present to hold the general session.

The parliament administrative board has limited its general sessions on for Monday’s because many MPs are busy for their campaigns to regain a parliament seat, but yesterday’s session was canceled because only a handful of them were present including the deputy speaker Erfanollah Erfan.

Erfan said that some serious national issues were scheduled to be discussed in the Monday’s general session.

Meanwhile, some of the legislators have posted photos from the general hall on the social media showing them waiting for hours for the administrative board to hold the sessions.

Journalists covering parliament sessions, say that most of the general sessions are canceled because of the absence of the administrative board, lack of agenda and other problems.

Organizations monitoring parliament’s programs call the last year of parliament’s 16th round “unsuccessful”.
