October election will be gloomiest in history

AT-KABUL: Heaping scorn on a widespread fraud and rigging in voter registration campaign, House of Elders of the bicameral National Assembly argued on Tuesday that future elections belong to the President, the Chief Executive and marginally the Hezbi Islami.

Senator Rahmatullah Achakzai representing Kandahar argued that the upcoming Parliamentary and District Councils elections is in fact a compromised election between Ghani and Abdullah teams, with some seats reserved for Hekmatyar team too.

“That’s why fraud in the distribution of identity cards and the registration of voters is happening only in Kabul – an issue the government and its election commission are aware of and don’t pay attention to,” he said.

Mesherano Jirga Second Deputy Mohammad Asef Seddiqi said that the October elections will be the gloomiest elections in the entire history of Afghanistan and certain predetermined individuals will have seats in the parliament with a direct government underpinning.

Senator Haseebullah Kaleemzai representing Maidan Wardak said the entire pre-election campaign has bypassed national interests; and voter registration process is hugely tainted with fraud and counterfeiting – in which Independent Election Commission and Population Registration Directorate are involved.
