AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The Ministry of Hajj and Religious Affairs on Saturday said that one Afghan was killed and 29 injured in Mecca after a crane collapsed in the holy city.
The deputy minister for religious affair Diaul Haq Abid said the injured Afghans were shifted to a hospital soon after the incident.
He said that 18 Afghans patients have been discharged after getting medical treatment and 11 others are still receiving treatment at the hospital in Saudi Arabia.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defense authority said that 107 pilgrims were killed and 238 others sustained injuries in the incident.
According to the kingdom’s authorities some of the wounded people are in critical health condition.
The crane collapsed due to a strong storm. Most of the victims are nationals of Afghanistan, Iran, India, Pakistan, Malaysia and Indonesia.
