AT-KABUL: More than 50 Taliban fighters were killed and 35 others were wounded in different operations launched by the security forces within the past 24 hours, officials said Sunday.
Ministry of Defense said in a statement that the national army with the cooperation of the national police and the National Directorate of Security (NDS) conducted operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Ghazni, Kandahar, Zabul, Ghor, Badghis, Takhar, Baghlan, Kunduz and Helmand provinces.
“In these operations, more than 50 rebels were killed and 35 others were injured,” the statement said.
Security forces also arrested five insurgents and handed over them to judicial organs for further inquiry, it added.
The military discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.
“Unfortunately, 13 army soldiers were martyred in the operations.”
On the other hand, police arrested Taliban shadow judge with 12 insurgents in Shenwari district of Parwan province, interior ministry said.
Mohmmad Nader was involved to different public prosecution of innocent people in the district, it said.
“The shadow judge had implemented Taliban’s unjustly and illegal desert court convicts cruelty over innocent people in the province.”
Seven Taliban fighters were killed in a separate operation in three district of Faryab province.
The fighter killed by Afghan security forces, after they attacked on check post in Pashtonkot, Almar and Grezwan districts in the province.
