Pact inked to establish hundreds of greenhouses

AT-KABUL: Ministry Agriculture Irrigation and Livestock on Monday signed an agreement with villages’ development councils to establish hundreds of greenhouses in Badghis and Nangarhar provinces.

The agreement of greenhouses was signed by the minister of agriculture irrigation and livestock with villages’ development councils, which total will cost 192 million afghanis.

A statement said that 44 greenhouses will be built aimed at boosting ‘Aloe Vera’ herb production, and 275 greenhouses for cucumber and tomato cultivation in Badghis and Nangarhar provinces.

Each of the greenhouses for tomato and cucumber will be established in 801meter squares.

Also seven hotbeds will be built in different district of Jawzjan and Nangarhar provinces at a total cost of four million afghanis.

According to MAIL, greenhouses and hotbeds will help increase agriculture harvests by 400pc to 500pc. It will also pave ground for off-season cultivation in the aforesaid provinces.

Greenhouses and hotbeds also will reduce the risk of diseases in cultivations.
