Pakistan military officer killed in Helmand clashes

KABUL: A Pakistani military member was killed in an airstrike conducted by the Afghan Air Force in the southern province of Helmand, the 215 Maiwand Military corps said on Wednesday.

The Maiwand corps said in a statement that the Afghan security forces conducted airstrikes on the Taliban and Al-Qaeda hideouts in Popalzai area of Khan Neshin district, killing several Al-Qaeda affiliates including a Pakistani military.

The killed Pakistani military had been wounded during the airstrike but later on succumbed to severe wounds in a hospital in Quetta state located on the other side of the Durand Line.

The corps said that military operations are going on against terrorists in several parts of the province.

Helmand is insecure province in the south, where clashes between the security forces and the Taliban have been intensified recently.
