AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Two policemen and two civilians have been killed in a clash with insurgents in Behsud district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Sunday.
The clash was erupted when militants attacked a police check-post in Hadda area of Najmuddin square on Saturday evening at around 7:00PM, Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesperson told Pajhwok Afghan News. “Two policemen and two civilians were killed and one policeman wounded in the clash with assailants”, he said.
Insurgents also suffered casualties in retaliatory firing by security forces, the spokesman said, but he was unaware about the casualties.
Moreover, Noorullah, the resident of the area, said the clash happened suddenly late on Saturday night and was continued for a while. However, he did not have information about casualties. However, no militant group has so far claimed responsibility of the attack.
It is worth mentioning that Nangarhar is among the relatively calm provinces in eastern Afghanistan, but the anti-government armed militant groups have recently increased their insurgency activities in some parts of the province during the recent years. Both, Afghan and US force regularly carry out strikes against Daesh militants in the province. At least 22 militants loyal to the Daesh terrorist group were killed on Saturday in an airstrike targeted their hideouts in Milo area of Nazian district.
