Policewoman shot dead in Kandahar

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: An armed man riding a motorcycle shot dead a policewoman Wednesday in Kandahar city, capital of the southern province with the same name, an official said.

The incident took place at around 12:30pm near the Zahir Shahee High School in Kandahar city, Pajhwok Afghan News quoted a security official who wished anonymity.

The source identified the policewoman as Nasreen, who was serving in Arghandab district. She was walking to her home when came under attack and the attacker managed to escape the area.

However, no group, including the Taliban insurgents that often carry out such attacks claimed responsibility for this incident.

“I heard the sound of shooting, and I came out from my house and saw a woman was lying on the road,” Pajhwok quoted Abdul Salam, a resident of the area.
