President Ghani meets British Special Representative to Afghanistan, Pakistan

AT-KABUL: President Ashraf Ghani held meeting with the British special representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan Gareth Bayley on Tuesday morning on the sidelines of the Tashkent Conference on Afghanistan, in which key issues were disused, a statement from president office said.

Both sides talked about the British assistance to Afghanistan, regional cooperation and role of British Government in the Afghan-launched peace process.

President Ghani thanked Ambassador Bayley and his delegation for attending the Tashkent Conference on Afghanistan. He thanked the British Government for aiding and supporting Afghanistan, reckoning that Britain and other international partners have played a constructive role in bolstering regional stability and cooperation.

Ambassador Bayley assured the President of long-term British commitment to assisting Afghanistan, reaffirming his government’s pledge to continue supporting the Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process.
