Presidential candidates reject result announcement as ‘big mistake, crisis’

AT News

KABUL: Presidential candidates warned that the announcement of election’s preliminary results would be a big mistake and would create crisis.

The independent election commission had said earlier to decide about the result announcement on Wednesday, apparently a reference to the announcement of the results.

The candidates who have gathered under a council umbrella, said Wednesday that the poll had sidetracked and the commission’s decisions were not legitimate anymore.

“The commission will not announce the results, but in fact it is going to announce a package of crisis,” said Wali Massoud, one of runners for presidency.

He urged a “government of partnership” to contain electoral crisis.

Shahab Hakimi, another presidential hopeful, said: “The election commission’s functions are not legitimate for us because it supports fraud.”

He accused provincial governors and other officials of committing fraud in favor of President Ghani’s team.

The candidate warned that election commission would be responsible for any kind of crisis after the announcement of results.

“We will not accept the announcement of preliminary results unless the election commission meets our legal demands,” said another candidate Abdullah Abdullah in Facebook.

The fourth presidential election was held on September 28th, but people are still waiting for the announcement of preliminary results.
