Roya Sadat’s ‘A Letter to President’ wins international award

AT-KABUL: The celebrated director Roya Sadat’s film ‘A Letter to the President’ has won the best film award in “One Future Award” in International Film Festival of Munich in Germany.

The award festival was held in Black Box, Gasteig in Munich on Saturday, according to a statement from Roya Film House.

‘A Letter to the President’ tells the story of a young woman ‘Suraya’ who is sentenced to death for murdering her husband; and to save her life, she writes a letter to the President.

Directed by Roya Sadat, script-written by Aziz Dildar,and produced by Roya Film House and Kaboora Productions, the film stars Lina Alam.

Each year, the ‘One Future Award’recognizes a film shown at FILMFEST Munich that conveys this idea in an ethically and aesthetically convincing way. This is the 33rd time that the International film academy presents this award.

FILMFEST MÜNCHEN was established in 1983 and is a principal summer film festival with over 80,000 admissions every year.

Over 2,000 film industry professionals from around the world and over 500 members of the press are accredited annually. The festival screens over 200 feature films, documentaries and TV movies each year.
