Security forces repel Taliban attack in Uruzgan

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Taliban insurgents launched an assault on security check-post, but ultimately failed as security forces killed a large number of Taliban insurgents in tit-for-tat response in Uruzgan province, official said.

Afghan security forces repelled and killed scores of Taliban insurgents when they attempted to attack their security chick-post in Shahid Hasas area, located in the outskirts of Uruzgan province.

Provincial governor’s spokesman, Dost Mohammad Nayab, said that the clash between security forces and militants lasted for several hours. Moreover, he said that 22 Taliban insurgents were killed in the battle.

“Two policemen were killed and several others received injures during the gunfight,” he said.

Nayab furthered that hundreds of Taliban insurgents took part in the attack against security forces. But he said that Afghan security forces repelled their attack.

However, he said that Taliban closed main route to Tarin Kot city to prevent security forces from shifting injured people to hospital.

Taliban had not commented yet.
