Senators upbeat about prospects of Kabul conference

AT-KABUL: The Kabul process conference on Wednesday has created a vibe of pessimism about ensuring peace and uprooting terrorism in Afghanistan.

The second session of the Kabul Process was held Wednesday in Kabul with participation of representatives from more than 25 countries and international organization with the aim to draw the new roadmap leading Afghanistan to peace.

Foreign ministry announced the session agenda as peace program and fight with terrorism.

Afghan senators believe that the Afghan problem has regional and international dimensions, hoping that the second session of Kabul Process be fruitful. The senators also said ensuring peace and eliminating of terrorism need vast international cooperation.

“A US-led international coordination is needed so we reach a mutual understanding in the fight against terrorism that threatens all of us,” deputy head of senate, Alam Izadyar said.

Political experts also call the session important in improving situation in the region. “This would be an extraordinary session to improve security situation, bringing peace and a peaceful coexistence among the neighboring countries. People hope the session could play a key role in bringing peace and security,” said Safia Seddiqi, a political analyst.

The first session of the Kabul Process was held in June in Kabul.
