Senior Taliban commander killed in Samangan

AT-KABUL: A key commander of the Taliban insurgents was killed along with his two accompanies, while two other militants were injured as a result of a joint military operation launched by the national army and national police in southern Samangan province, ministry of interior said in a statement Wednesday.

The statement said that the operation was conducted in Hazara Qadoq village, Hazrat Sultan district in late Tuesday.

The statement identified the commander as Qari Ehsan, saying that the two injured were arrested with some of light and heavy round of ammunitions.

It further added that Qari Ehsan was involved in many terrorist and destructive activities in this district and other areas of the Samangan province.
