Shahzad makes accusation against ACB

AT Monitoring Desk

KABUL: Wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Shahzad has accused the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) of removing him from the World Cup squad even though he was fully fit.

Shahzad’s shocking accusation comes after he was ruled out of the reminder of the World Cup with knee injury.

It was said that Shahzad suffered a recurrence of the injury he sustained during Afghanistan’s World Cup warm-up match against Pakistan, during which he retired hurt.

“I have no problem or injury and was fully fit, but [the] ACB pulled me out of the squad by force without any consultation,” Shahzad was quoted as saying by some media.

Shahzad was replaced by wicketkeeper-batsman Ikram Alikhil.

Afghanistan lost their World Cup match to New Zealand by seven wickets on Saturday and will next take on South Africa in Cardiff on Saturday.
