Six martyred in Nangarhar bombing

AT-KABUL: A bomb planted on a motorbike went off on Monday in eastern Nangarhar province, outside a gathering being held by a reconciled commander who made peace with the National Unity Government last year — martyring six people, while eight other received injuries, official said.

The explosion occurred in 1st Police District of Jalalabad city near Behsood Bridge, where the Hezb-e-Islami political party held a gathering at around 01:15pm local time.

The former Jihadi commander, and the leader of Hezb-e-Islami party, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, was not hurt in the blast.

The political party spokesman, Nadir Afghan, said the bombing occurred at the end of the session, when the participants were leaving the site.

“Six participants embraced martyrdom and around ten others received injuries in the blast,” he added.

However, provincial governor spokesman, Attaullah Khogianai confirmed four people martyred and eight others wounded in the incident.

There is no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
