Suicide car bombing killed three policemen in Helmand

AT-KABUL: At least three policemen were killed and several others wounded in a suicide car bombing in southern Helmand province.

Omar Zwak, spokesman for the provincial governor office, said that the incident took place in Nahr-e-Saraj district around 3:00 pm on Sunday, when a suicide car bomber set off the explosion near a convoy of police. Three policemen were killed and 10 others injured, Zwak said.

He added that all the wounded persons were rushed to Lashkargah hospital.

In a separate incident, a suicide blast in southern Kandahar province wounded a child. Spokesman for acting governor of Kandahar, Samim Khapalwak, said that the suicide bomber has been identified by police before carrying out attack. “When police followed the suicide bomber he detonated himself before reaching target,” he added.

The incident took place in Aino Mena area of Kandahar city.
