Suspected suicide bombers, facilitators detained in Nangarhar: NDS

AT-KABUL: National Directorate of Security (NDS) as result of special operation has arrested a six member suspected terrorist group in eastern Nangarhar province of the country, who were allegedly involved in suicide bombings.

The operation was carried out based on exact information in Ghani Khil district of Nangarhar province by NDS personnel. Main member of the group, who was masterminding group’s suicide attacks, Qari Rahmatullah known as Qari Osman, native resident of southwestern Helmand province, was arrested during the operation.

Two would be suicide bombers each one, Abdul Bari and Shir Afzal and three other facilitators were also detained by NDS and were currently under investigation by related security organs.

Militants have intensified their deadly armed attacks and suicide bombings a head of their spring offensives that so far imposed heavy casualties on civilians over the past two weeks.

On Saturday a suicide bomber detonated his explosives near to the provincial Branch of the New Kabul Bank in Jalalabad city that killed 34 and wounded 125 others including children.

However a number of suicide vests, explosives and equipment, being used in making suicide vests and Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), were also seized from the group during the operation, NDS said in a statement on Tuesday.
