Taliban pushed back in Ghor: Governor

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Security forces have surrounded the Taliban militants in Charsada district of Ghor province, said acting governor of the province.

Sayed Anwar Rahmati said that heavy fighting is going on between security forces and the Taliban in the district. He added that the Taliban are retreating, as they are currently surrounded by security forces. He said that airstrikes have killed and wounded scores of Taliban militants on Friday.

Rahmati was confident that security forces will clear the district from presence of militants soon.

It is worth mentioning that the Taliban militants have mounted their attacks in different parts of the country recently.

According to another report, a group of 20 militants have surrendered to the government in northern Kunduz province.

A statement issued by the National Directorate of Security (NDS) said that the militants along with their commander, Shikh Zahir, handed over their weapons to security forces.

“The group was involved in terrorist activities in Kunduz province,” the statement added.

Kunduz was witness to heavy conflicts between security forces and the Taliban recently.
