Taliban recruiter caught in Herat

AT-KABUL: The Taliban recruitment officer, Mullah Akhtar was detained in operation carried out by the provincial police in Ghurian district of western Herat province, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said on Wednesday.

The detained Taliban insurgent (Akhtar) was responsible for recruiting fighters to the Taliban ranks in the district that has been detained by police during operation on Tuesday evening in the district’s bazaar, the MoI said in a statement.

The detained Taliban militant (Akhtar) have been highly involved in designing and carrying out attacks against security forces and also was one of key player in deterioration of security of the district (Ghurian).

This comes as months ago, one Taliban’s recruitment officer and a member of the group were arrested in Nangarhar province.

According to Nangarhar officials, Mawlawi Rafiullah, who is a resident of Khogyani district of Nangarhar province, was arrested in PD4 in Jalalabad city.

Officials said Mullah Saber, another Taliban member, was arrested in Sherzad district.
