KABUL: The Taliban group on Wednesday rejected participation in the forthcoming Loya Jirga for Peace salted for April 29, terming it a symbolic Jirga aimed at prolonging Kabul administration stay in power.
The group’s spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid in a statement said that “Kabul administration” has been scrambling for its survival, and that’s why announced conveying a Consultative Loya Jirga for Peace.
“Taliban on behalf of its people strongly reject participation in such fake Jirga’s,” he quoted as saying the statement.
Thought, the Afghan government did not invite Taliban officially to participate in the Jirga, but Umer Daudzai, Head of the High Peace Council’s Secretariat and President Ghani’s Special Peace Envoy once said Taliban representative likely to be invited in the Jirga.
The rejection on part of Taliban came when all is set to hold Jirga in 29th April in Kabul. It has been said that over 25,000 people from all walk of Afghan societies to participate in Jirga in order to elucidates red lines in talks with the Taliban group.
30 percent of the participants would be women, as they have more say in regards to peace talks with Taliban as they suffered more during dark regime of Taliban, barring them from going to schools, workplaces, and other fundamental rights.
