Taliban to likely reject upcoming peace talks in Qatar: Sources

AT News Report

KABUL: At least 250 people from different classes from political parties to independent political figures, jihadi leaders, religious scholars, members of parliament and the high peace council are listed to attend the so-called “intra-Afghan” dialogue with Taliban representatives in the Qatari capital of Doha.

The presidential palace said Tuesday in a statement that the list of 250 people was prepared.

Separately, former president Hamid Karzai announced that he would not attend the dialogue that follows a similar session held in February in the Russian capital city of Moscow where he was one of the participants.

Sources close to Taliban and some political analysts say that the militants had agreed with a 150-man delegation. The sources added that Taliban would likely reject the meeting.
