Terror suspects held, IEDs recovered in Kandahar

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Three terror suspects were held and dozens of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were recovered by the National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives in southern Kandahar province.

According to the NDS, the suspects planned to carry out attacks on government compounds in Kandahar city, the central city of the province.

The arrested men were identified as Khan Mohammad son of Abdul Karim resident of Dand district who lived in Kandahar city, Abdul Karim Agha alias Khan so of Abdul Rahim Agha and Bismillah son of Taj Mohammad, residents of Baghki village in Shahr-i-Safa district of Zabul province.

The suspects have expressed their intentions in initial investigation with the NDS.

The spy agency recovered a cache of explosive devices and weapons in a separate security operation in southern Helmand province.

At least 34 homemade anti-vehicle bombs, 40 hand grenades, three pistols and ammunition were kept in the cache for attacks which were recovered by the NDS personnel, a statement issued by the NDS said.
