Three NDS officers killed while defusing bomb in Herat

KABUL: Afghanistan’s National Directorate of Security (NDS) said its three spy officers were killed as they were trying to defuse an IED embedded to a vehicle.

Three officers from Herat’s Directorate of National Security (NDS) lost their lives in the explosion, NDS confirmed in a statement on Friday, adding, it occurred at around 4pm local time, inside an NDS facility in the province. 

They NDS officers had identified a vehicle on which explosive devices were embedded, and the technical team were trying to defuse the explosives when the blast happened. 

According to the statement, three members of the technical team have been killed, and two others received injures.

However, TOLONews quoted officials from Herat provincial hospital that say five people were killed and four others wounded in the explosion and that they have been taken to the hospital.
