KABUL: Unknown gunmen kidnapped two doctors in Parwan province, some 60 kilometers north of Kabul, provincial officials confirmed.

The incident took place Tuesday in the Bagram district, home to the largest US military base.

Abdul Shakoor Qoddusi, district governor identified the kidnapped doctors as Habib Rahman and Heshmatullah, saying they were abducted while busy in work inside an emergency clinic in Sar Sayyad village.

Qoddusi said that the kidnappers entered the clinic pretending to be sick and took the two doctors by force to an unknown area.

He said that police are investigating the abduction.

Separately, a vehicle belonging to Sharif Mehraban, head of Parwan appeal court was exploded in Bagram, Qoddusi said, adding that no casualties were reported.

Nobody has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping and bombing.

Parwan, once a calm province has recently turned to an insecure area with irresponsible armed people carrying out crimes such as thefts, murders and abductions.

Taliban militants have active presence in some districts of the province such as Seyahgerd, Shinwari, Sheikh Ali, Koh-e-Safi and Bagram.
