Usman Ghani’s 69 runs helps Afghanistan beat Oman in first UAE T20

The Afghanistan national cricket team defeated Oman by 27 runs in the first Twenty20 match of Afghanistan Tour of United Arab Emirates.

Afghanistan set a target of 160 runs from 20 overs and by losing 8 wickets after Oman won the toss and elected to field first.

Despite losing opener Mohammad Shahzad during the first few minutes of the game, a brilliant start by Usman Ghani helped Afghanistan to set the target together with the middle order batsmen.

On the middle order side, Asghar Stanikzai was bowled after scoring 8 runs but Karim SAdiq scored 26 runs along with Samiullah Shenwawri scoring 17 runs and Shafiqullah with Gulbadin Naib scoring 14 runs each.

However, the Oman batsmen could not chase the given target and were all out after scoring 132 runs from 18.1 runs.

On the bowling side, Syed Sherzad took 3 wickets from 3 overs and by giving only 16 runs, while Yamin Ahmadzai, Rokhan Barakzai and Samiullah Shenwari taking 2 wickets each.

Mohammad Nasim Baras also took 1 wicket after bowling 3 overs to restrict the Oman batsmen. (KP)
