Wolesi Jirga supports Ghani’s stance against Pakistan

By Farhad Naibkhel-KABUL: The Wolesi Jirga (Lower House) of Parliament members strongly endorsed President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani’s recent stance against Pakistan in the Heart of Asia Conference.

President Ghani on Sunday slammed Pakistan for exporting terror, providing them financial resources and hideouts. In his address at the 6th annual conference of Heart of Asia in India, President Ghani said that the Taliban insurgency would not survive a month if it lost its sanctuary in neighboring Pakistan, urging its neighbor to take on militant groups on its soil instead of giving Kabul financial aid. President Ghani believed the $500 million promised by Pakistan for Afghanistan’s reconstruction could be better utilized in combating terrorism.

Although Afghanistan often struggled to keep a good relation with Pakistan, but in the past decade never Pakistan government showed sincerity in different aspect particularly in peace process, thus Afghan president patient over and strictly made a stance against Pakistan recently, which was warmly welcomed by different political and lawmakers in the country.

“President Ghani stance against Pakistan in the Heart of Asia conference was the right decision, thus we strongly back president,” said member of Wolesi Jirga Fatema Aziz.

She said that Afghan government often proved its sincerity to Pakistan in the past decade, but Pakistan instead struggled to send terrorist to Afghanistan.

President negative answer to the aid of Pakistan and taunt of Islamabad for supporting terrorism was a great stroke to this neighboring country, thus we must back president in this aspect, she insisted.

Afghan government and parliament must have clear stance against Pakistan, she added.

Another member of Wolesi Jirga General Nazifa Zaki said that Afghan people are not beggar and never need to Pakistan aid.

While praising president stance against Pakistan in Hear of Asia Conference in India, she insisted that support president stance against Pakistan.
