100 Taliban rebels killed in fresh ops

KABUL: At least 100 Taliban insurgents have been killed and 85 others received injuries in multiple extensive military crackdowns carried out by the Afghan security forces in the past 24 hours, security official said Wednesday.

Ministry of Defense in a statement said the Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Urzgan, Kunduz, Paktia, Nangarhar, Ghazni, Farah, Baghlan, Maidan Wardak, Kandahar and Paktika provinces, in which 100 militants were killed and 85 others wounded.

Afghan forces arrested nine militants and handed them over relevant judicial organs for further investigations.

The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.

During these operations, 31 Taliban fighters were killed, 12 wounded, 115 kg explosive and five rounds of mine discovered and terminated in Dehrawood and center of Urzgan—24 militants killed and 20 others wounded in Emam Sahib, Khanabad and Chahardara districts of Kunduz—15 rebels killed and eight others injured in Zazi Aryob districts of Paktia—12 militants killed and nine others wounded in Sorkh Rod district of Nangarhar and eight terrorists were killed and eight others wounded in Andar, Deh Yak and Qarabagh districts of Ghazni province.

Similarly, six militants were killed and three others wounded in Qal-e-Kah district of Farah—four insurgents killed and 20 others wounded in Baghlan Markazi district of Baghlan—three rebels killed and four others wounded in Nirkh district of Maidan Wardak—two terrorists killed in Maiwand districts of Kandahar and two insurgents were killed in center of Paktika province.

In past 24 hours, 15 planed clearing operations, and 90 Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air Forces conducted aerial operations supporting Afghan National Army, including 29 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
