104 rebels eliminated in raids

AT-KABUL: Nearly 104 Taliban fighters were killed and 89 others were wounded in different crackdowns carried out by security forces in several parts of the country.

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) said in a press release on Saturday that Afghan National Police (ANP) in collaboration with Afghan National Army (ANA) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) conducted joint military operations against insurgents in different areas of Herat, Kandahar, Zabul, Maidan Wardak, Ghazni, Badghis, Farah, Paktika, Helmand, Kunduz, Faryab and Jawzjan provinces. At least 104 rebels were eliminated and 89 others injured in the military operations.

Scores of local commanders of the Taliban fighter were among the killed insurgents.

One insurgent was arrested and handed over to the relevant judicial body for further inquiry.

The ANP recovered huge cache of weapons and ammunition in the operations as well, the ministry claimed.
