107 insurgents killed in raids

AT-KABUL: At least 107 militants have been killed and 43 others received injures in multiple extensive military crackdowns carried out by the Afghan security forces in the past 24 hours, security officials said on Wednesday.

In a press release issued here, the Ministry of Defense (MoD), said that Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) operative has conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Laghman, Ghazni, Logar, Kandhar, Urzgan, Badghis, Ghor, Balkh, Faryab, Badakhshan, Baghlan and Helmand provinces, in which 107 insurgents were killed and 43 others wounded.

Afghan National and Defense Security forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.

During operations, 34 Taliban fighters were killed, 10 wounded and three stronghold with some weapons belonged to enemy destroyed in Dehrawod district of Urzgan–27 insurgents were killed and seven others wounded in Bati Kot and Mohmand Dara districts of Nangarhar–20 militants were killed and 17 others wounded in Bilchiragh and Pashtoon Kot districts of Faryab– and 10 rebels were killed in Shahrak district of Ghor province.

Similarly, eight terrorists were killed, six wounded and two strongholds related to enemy had been destroyed in Tushkan district of Badakhshan–six insurgents were killed in Abband district of Ghazni–and two militants were killed and three others wounded in center of Logar province.

In past 24 hours, 14 planed clearing operations, and 67 Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air Forces conducted 129 aerial operations supporting Afghan National Army including 10 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.

The ANA also discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in these operations.
