11 members of Jundullah terrorist group held in Kunduz

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The National Directorate of Security (NDS) said that its operatives have apprehended 11 members of the Jundullah terrorist group which is affiliated to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

In addition one militant was killed in a gunfight with the NDS.

A statement issued by the NDS here on Wednesday stated that the militants were arrested in Dara-e-Sof area of Khan Abad district of Kunduz province.

The statement further said that the militants were collecting Zakat (alms) from the local residents. During the operation the spy agency also seized some military uniform and different types of weapons including AK47, PK machinegun and some other ammunition.

However, the NDS did not provide more information.

Kunduz is among the insecure provinces in the country and its city was captured by the Taliban around two months ago. Nonetheless, the security forces backed by the foreigner troops recaptured the city and ousted the Taliban. However, the Taliban still exist in some parts of the province and carry their attacks against civilians and security forces.
