110 military personnel detained on charge of duty negligence

AT News

KABUL: Officials in the eastern province of Laghman says that at least 110 military personnel are held accountable for duty negligence.

The provincial press department quoted Governor Rahmatullah Yarmal as saying that top military personnel including deputy of Laghman’s intelligence agency are among the detainees.

This comes as severe clashes between the security forces and Taliban approached to the edges of provincial capital, Mehtarlambaba. According to some reports, the security forces retreated a number of outposts without any resistance.

The insurgents earlier overrun Dawlat Shah district of the province. To suppress the militants, the chief of army staff, Mohammad Yasin Zia flew to Laghman to manage the war from the vicinity.

The insurgents have ramped up attacks across Afghanistan, putting pressure on the Afghan government in a bid to convince it for meeting their demands.
