11m villagers benefited from 40,000 projects

AT-KABUL: Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MoRRD) on Sunday said that it has implemented over 40,000 schemes in different villages across the country in the past three years.

“MoRRD has implemented 40967 projects at a total cost of $916 million in the past three years,” said Spokesman of MoRRD Akbar Rustami.

According to a statement speaking at a press conference Rustami said that over 11 million people in villages 18669 and 381 district of 34 provinces benefited from the projects.

He said that also through projects for peace 13 million work days have been established, where through 650,000 villagers were provided with short term job opportunities.

He elaborated that 7955 road projects were completed; over two million villagers now have easily and on time access to market clinics and other social institutions.

The MoRRD also has provided drinkable water to over two million villages across the country in the past three years, he added.

He said that also institution and infrastructure have been constructed for 3.6 million farmers, which lead to increasing of their harvest across the country.

Construction of 499 schools and 39 other training centers have been also completed in the past three years, he concluded.
